Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera have decided on an open-to-all wedding on Tuesday, December 30 at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Cubao, Quezon City.

“Everyone’s invited,” Dingdong told the media on Friday (August 15) when he had a joint press conference with his fiancee’ at the GMA Network Center.

The GMA royal couple explained that they agreed to make their wedding public because “everyone has been part of our love story” even before they became a couple five years ago.

Marian Rivera shows the engagement ring Dingdong Dantes gave her when he proposed on national television/NPPA …The two wanted a December 8 wedding, but the church was unavailable on Immaculate Conception Day.

The GMA Primetime King, meanwhile, said it’s “unfair judgment” to say that his highly-publicized engagement and wedding are part of his political plans. The 34-year-old actor is rumored to be running for senator in 2016, when he becomes eligible for the said position (senators should be at least 35 years old).

"May option din naman talaga kami to really keep this private, but hindi namin made-deny 'yung fact na we both started in GMA, nagkakilala kami dahil sa isang TV show, and lahat ng tao who supported us from the start until now, especially ang members of the press, you were with us in all our milestones together.”

Dingdong added, "Itong pag-iisang-dibdib namin we also consider this as an event that will be very memorable sa’min... kumbaga sa milestone pinakamatindi para sa’ming dalawa. And after this, ang buhay naman namin together will definitely be private, but on occasions like this, I think it’s just right to invite our dear friends, mga taong naging bahagi ng buhay namin.”

Grand TV spectacle

The couple also revealed that GMA is the official broadcast carrier of the so-called “royal wedding”—quite understandably since both of them are the network’s homegrown talents.

Lilybeth Rasonable, Kapuso TV’s head of entertainment, told the media that the union of their prized talents is “personal” for the network that has been the couple’s “home” in showbiz. Chairman Felipe Gozon and President Gilberto Duavit also congratulated the couple in a taped video message.

This early, GMA has already set up a microsite that gives updates on the wedding.

Aside from a TV special, the couple is considering throwing a post-wedding event where all Dong-Yan fans are invited. This would be a good work-around since the 64-year-old church could only accommodate a number of high-profile guests.

"It’s a public church, they (the public) might wanna go. But we’ll have a guest list,” Dingdong later clarified when Yahoo Philippines asked how open the wedding will be.

Showbiz, political bigwigs unite

Although the couple is still planning the wedding entourage, Marian revealed that Batangas governor Vilma Santos-Recto is one of the confirmed principal sponsors.

Dingdong has yet to talk to President Benigno Aquino III about being a ninong.

It will be recalled that the President has appointed Dingdong commissioner-at-large of the National Youth Commission. The couple supported P-Noy’s presidential run in 2010.

Marian has already booked her two of her best friends, Roxee B. (a.k.a Roxanne Barcelo) and Ana Feleo, as maids of honor. Dingdong, meanwhile, chose his brother Angelo as best man.

The couple has yet to announce the reception venue and motif of the highly-anticipated wedding.
