Sam: ‘All is well’ with Anne, Jasmine
Sam Concepcion would not miss Jasmine Curtis-Smith’s 20th birthday celebration for anything – not even the recent controversy following reports that the latter’s sister Anne Curtis had verbally harangued him during Vice Ganda’s birthday party.
At the launch of the newest branch of Chef’s Noodle in Robinson’s Magnolia, Sam shared with the media that he had gone to Jasmine’s party. “Yes, okay naman po… I saw her (Anne), saw her family, (I) said hi siyempre.”
While Anne issued a denial via Instagram soon after the reports came out, Sam only addressed the issue now. He acknowledged an incident had occurred but stopped short at revealing any more details.
“Siyempre it was a surprise,” he admitted. “Wala naman po sa amin na ine-expect (’yun)… Pero ’yun nga, she has her reasons… Siyempre family po ’yun ni Jasmine so naiintindihan ko po...”
Putting himself in Anne’s shoes, he said, “I understand where she’s coming from, and siyempre I will look out for my sister, ’di ba?”
So what of rumors linking him to his “Mira Bella” co-star Julia Barretto? “Of course there’s no truth to that,” Sam insisted. “’Yun nga po eh, sana hindi na lumaki ’yung issue… kasi siyempre it involves po my relationship with them (Jasmine’s family). Ayoko lang po na ma taint pa ’yun.”
Overwhelmed by the attention he’s gotten since, he shared that he spoke to Anne because “I wanted to clear things muna with her; gusto ko na maging okay muna kami bago (magsalita).”
He pointed out, “Siyempre… ako ‘yung nanliligaw… whatever the situation, it’s always the guy who has to make an effort,” adding, “Gagawin ko naman talaga kahit ano for Jasmine.”
Not wanting to undermine Anne’s concern, Sam also noted, “Whatever has transpired, ako siyempre, I respect her… Ate ’yun eh.”
Queried if Anne was drunk at the time, Sam replied, “Hindi ko alam! Kasi minsan, mahirap, kasi… malilito ka na rin sa mga nangyayari, 'tsaka sa dami ng lumalabas."
In other reports, Anne said she and Sam had spoken on the night of the incident. Sam concurred and declared, “I think there’s nothing else to talk about (anymore),” insisting, “All is well between all of us.”
As to fans and even to bashers who insist Anne’s recent jellyfish scare on the set of “Dyesebel” is the result of karma, Sam said, “I hope that we don’t wish bad (things to happen to people). No one deserves to be attacked here. I know fans, siyempre susuportahan nila ’yung sa kanila all the time, but I hope (we don’t) attack people, or attack other fans. Kasi ganun din eh, we’re just cultivating (something na) hindi maganda.”
On The Lighter Side
Sam may be busy with his own TV series but he is looking forward to hitting the beach. “Feeling ko naman ’yung mga tao sa ‘Mira Bella,’ everyone there wants to go to the beach also,” he said smiling.
Aside from that, his idea of fun is meeting up with friends and eating out. Lucky for him, he’s just been launched as the new endorser for Chef’s Noodle, which he says serves “delicious meals at affordable prices.”
The Korean restaurant – with other branches at the University Mall along Taft Avenue, Atlanta Center in Greenhills, Robinson’s Place Malolos, The Block at SM North Edsa and, soon, in SM Megamall – boasts of dishes especially crafted by Korean award-winning celebrity chef Choi In Sun.
